Suite Prisunic de Gravures Originales Contemporaines.

Original editions of the first two catalogs of engravings (12 and 22 leaves, respectively) distributed by the Prisunic chain of stores, the series initiated by Jacques Gueden and promoted by Jacques Putnam with the goal of diffusing and democratizing high-end art through mass distribution, containing examples of original hand-numbered and signed prints by well-known artists which were created in editions of 300 and sold for 100F each, the first volume with prefaces by François Mathey, Conservator in Chief of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and by Jacques Gueden, General Director of Prisunic, the second volume with prefaces by Gueden and Jacques Putnam, promoter, each volume also containing a short biography of the artist along with images of the prints created for the series. Profusely illustrated. Volume 1, approx. 6-5/8 x 2-1/4 in., opens leporello-style; Volume 2, approx. 4-7/8 x 4-7/8 in. Volume 1 with paper-covered boards, Volume 2 with printed wrpps. and contents loose as issued. Paris (Prisunic) n.d. (1967-1968).

The first catalog contains: two lithographs by Pierre Alechinsky, two lithographs by Wilfredo Lam, two lithographs by Roberto Matta, two drypoints by Jean Messagier, two lithographs by Reinhoud, and two lithographs by Bram Van Velde. The second catalog contains all of the works from the first catalog plus two more lithographs by Alechinsky, two additional etchings by Messagier, and two more lithographs by Van Velde, in addition to new works including two lithographs by Jean Dewasne, two lithographs by Yasse Tabuchi, and two etchings by Pierre Tal-Coat. Scarce; as of September 2019, WorldCat locates only two holdings of the first catalog in North American institutions.
