Moscow-Leningrad: Gosizdat, 1928. Octavo (18 × 13 cm). Original pictorial wrappers by Georgii Echeistov; 7, pp. Illustrated throughout. About very good.
First and only edition of this delightful Soviet children's book, part of a series instructing young readers to create basic toys and everyday use items with simple materials and tools. The graphic artist, Georgii Echeistov (1897–1946) studied at VKhUTEMAS/VKhUTEIN throughout the 1920s, and the constructivist influence of his schooling is reflected in the illustrations of the book. In addition to children’s illustration, Echeistov helped design the Soviet world fair pavilions in Paris (1937) and New York (1939).
As of November 2020, KVK and OCLC show copies of three other titles from this series, but not the present book.
