[Germany, 1968]. Original silk-screened poster, printed in black and red, measuring 84 × 59 cm. Very good or better.
A remarkably drastic anti-war poster, issued as a fake poster for the fourth Documenta in Kassel, held in 1968. The fourth installment of the famous contemporary art fair – considered the most important European art fair of the decade – heavily featured American art, especially Pop Art and Op-Art, including works by Andy Warhol. The press conference prior to the opening of the show was interrupted by protests that included artists such as Wolf Vostell and Jörg Immendorff, who reacted against the relative lack of political contributions, as well the dearth of works of Fluxus and Action art in the exhibition.
The artist and publisher of this work are unknown, and as of February 2021, the poster could not be traced by us via KVK, OCLC.
