First edition fo this volume of poems dedicated to the author's grandfather and the Don Region: "It was written without any political tendencies, only to reflect the idiosyncratic ways of the Cossacks, of the Cossack region and the Cossack soul." A second volume appeared in 1939. A variant of the first volume in blue wrappers is also known.
Kelin (1896-1970) was a doctor and writer of the First Wave of the Russian Emigration, as well as a veteran of World War I and the Civil War, who fled abroad in 1920 and lived in Czechoslovakia.
