First edition. A prison memoir by Piotr Wożniak (1912–1988), a Home Army (Armia Krajowa; AK) soldier, which fought the German occupation during WWII. Wożniak was later a member of the underground National Military Union (NZW) which fought the Soviet occupation after the Germans were defeated. He was arrested by the Soviet forces and sentenced to death, later commuted to an extended sentence. Published in Paris, during the Martial Law in Poland, the text went through over a dozen editions in the years 1982–1989. Scarce in the trade.
