First edition of this play by Sruoga (1896–1947), the Lithuanian poet, playwright, critic, and literary scholar. Having studied in St. Petersburg and Moscow, Sruoga received his Ph.D. in Lithuanian folklore and went on to teach literature and theatre at Kaunas University. He wrote numerous plays, mostly based on historical events. Under the German occupation, he was arrested and deported to Stutthof, about which he wrote his important memoir Dievų miškas (Forest of Gods). Apparently a review copy sent by the publishing house with the note "Prašome pamineti ir parecenzuoti."
