First and only edition of this satirical long poem about Stalin's descent into hell, published by Ukrainian refugees in Melbourne. The author, Vasyl' Onufriienko (1920–1992), was born in Poltava Region and studied at Kharkiv; under German occupation, he and his wife were taken to Germany as forced laborers. Later he worked in Berlin and after the end of the war he lived in a camp for Displaced Persons (DP) in Regensburg, where he was active in literary circles. He settled in Sydney in 1949.
The caricature on the front wrapper, which shows Stalin upon his arrival in hell, is not attributed.
