Ukrainian Displaced Person (DP) Publishing

Emihratsiia a nashi zavdannia [Emigration and our tasks].; Rydna knyzhechka, vypusk I.

Ellwangen (Jagst): "Ridna Knyzhechka", 1948. Small octavo (14.5 × 10.3 cm). Staple-stitched pictorial wrappers; 31, [1] pp. Text toned due to stock; still very good.

Rare pamphlet about the tasks of the Ukrainian post-war emigration (Displaced Persons, or DPs) from a nationalist perspective. The author stresses the importance of Ukrainian political emigration as a sign of protest against the Soviet regime in Ukraine, and warns his fellow Ukrainians of growing complacency. Published by Ukrainian DPs, or stateless refugees, housed at the Mühlberg military casern at Ellwangen, South Germany, which served as a college for officers, a station for SS units during WWII, and finally as a refuge for 3000 Ukrainian DPs from 1946–51. Illustrated wrappers, with a vignette by an unknown artist, likely also a Displaced Person.

As of August 2022, KVK, OCLC show paper copies at three institutions in North America.
