Toronto: "Robitnyche slovo", 1917. Small octavo (15 × 11 cm). Original orange printed wrappers; 29, pp. Text evenly toned and somewhat brittle; still about very good.
Second, enlarged edition of this book of socialist workers' songs in Ukrainian, published by the Ukrainian socialist newspaper "The Worker's Word" (Robitnyche slovo) in Toronto, Canada. According to the extensive description on the rear wrapper, the journal "aims to spread education and truthful socialist teachings, free of all bourgeois distortions." Among the songs are internationally known works, such as Ukrainian translations of "The Internationale" and the "Marseillaise", as well as tunes from Ukraine and Poland that refer to the local struggle of workers against Tsar and bourgeoisie. A curious and scarce sample of Ukrainian socialist folklore.
