Moscow: Gramatizdevneeciba "Prometejs", 1931. Octavo (22 × 15 cm). Original decorative wrappers; , 237 pp. Very good.
Rare example of Latvian modernist publishing in Moscow, Russia. The design of the Latvian first edition resembles the Russian original (Fabrika Rable, 1928), which also features a vertical red rectangle abutted by two horizontal bars at the end, but the execution is more subtle and reminiscent of Latvian constructivist design. Chumandrin (1905-1940) was a Soviet prose writer and editor who was later accused of depicting leftist communist heros in his early work. One of 2000 copies printed. This edition not found in KVK, OCLC.
