Moscow: Gosizdat, 1923. Octavo (22 × 17.5 cm). Original decorative wrappers; 171 pp, [15] leaves of plates, some tipped in. Wrappers dust-soiled; overlapping wrapper edges creased and with a few smaller tears; internally very good.

Rare bibliophile publication which introduces readers to various forms of graphic reproduction and printing methods, and serves to showcase the range of Soviet fine printing after the years of the Civil War. The author, Vladimir Il’ich Anisimov (1870-1932), was a noted Soviet specialist in typography, printing, and the graphic arts. The book covers topics such as photo reproduction, woodcuts, halftone, zincography, engravings, etchings, heliogravure, lithography, color printing, providing plenty of illustrations, with methods noted on the plates. Among the reproductions are work by Vasnetsov, Narbut and Ostroumova-Lebedeva. One of 1000 copies. Uncommon, especially in the original wrappers. As of August 2019, KVK and OCLC show eight copies in North America.
